Our Story

Two of us started this. Four of us are in the logo.

Thurlex is a family business in the most literal sense. Two of us run it, and the mark on every tool has four people in it.

What the mark means

Two mountain peaks, angular and solid, sharing a single unbroken silhouette — a father and a son, holding each other up. Above them, two four-point lights: a mother and a daughter. Hard geometry and radiant curves, earth and light. Nobody has to know that to like the logo, but now you do.

Trail, jobsite, everyday

We are not chasing a single niche. A Thurlex tool should earn its place in a toolbox, a truck and a backpack, because the same multitool that gets you through a jobsite repair is the one you reach for on a trail or at the kitchen counter. Most of what we make gets used far more often on an ordinary Tuesday than on any expedition.

That is why the store is sorted two ways — by what a tool is, and by where it ends up. Most of ours sit in more than one place.

How we do things

We would rather give you a number than an adjective. Tool count, weight, closed length, blade length and lock type are on every product page, because those are what actually decide it. If a spec is not listed, it is because we do not have it confirmed yet, not because we are hiding it.

We say the limits too. Every tool we make is better at some things than others, and the product pages tell you which is which — including when a cheaper Thurlex tool is the better answer than an expensive one.

Where we are

California. If something goes wrong with a tool, one of us reads the email. There is no ticket queue and no script.
